Degrees and Certifications:
My name is Emily Velure and I am one of the social workers here at Linwood Monroe Arts Plus. I work primarly with students in grades 6-8 who receive special education services. I am excited to be starting my seventh year at LMAP and am proud to have served as a social worker in the district since January of 2005.
I have two sons ages 5 and 8 who are going into kindergarten and 3rd grade. I am a graduate of Winona State University with a Bachelors of Science in Social Work and a graduate of St.Catherine University/University of St.Thomas, School of Social Work with a Masters Degree in Clinical Social Work. As a social worker, I am passionate about advocating for students and families within the educational setting and helping students to acheive their social, emotional and behavioral goals. In addition to being a social worker, I also co-lead the student leadership and mentoring program for 8th graders called WEB (Where Everyone Belongs).
As social workers, we are an integral link between home, school and community in helping students acheive academic success. We work with students, families, school administrators, teachers to help support students who may have barriers to their learning and help advocate, intervene and teach skills to remove these barriers.
I welcome you to connect with me for any questions or concerns regarding your student.
