Degrees and Certifications:
Greetings! I am thrilled to be working at Horace Mann this year as a support teacher primarily working with individuals or small groups on reading skills for the upper grades. I have taught for Saint Paul Public Schools for 27 years in a variety of positions as a classroom teacher, academic intervention teacher and a math & literacy coach. I live in Saint Paul with my husband John, and we have two adult children who attended SPPS schools. I am thrilled to work mornings here at Horace Mann and afternoons at Randolph Heights.
At Horace Mann I will be using a program called SIPPS® (Systematic Instruction in Phonological Awareness, Phonics, and Sight Words) - a research-based foundational skills program proven to help both new and struggling readers in grades K–12. The program’s systematic scope and sequence provides a structured-literacy approach to instruction through explicit routines focused on phonological awareness, spelling-sounds, and sight words. I will be focusing on small group instruction for fourth and fifth graders.
