This year marks my 29th year of teaching in St. Paul Schools, my 8th with middle schoolers at Capitol Hill. In addition to English Language (EL) classes, I teach 6th grade Reader's and Writer's Workshop and 7th grade English Language Arts with Ms. Schibel.
Did you know that Capitol Hill has its own middle school GSA (Gender-Sexuality Alliance)? If you would like to join our GSA, named GLOW by students several years ago, please let me know because I am the group's teacher leader. Each year, GLOW is filled with incredible middle schoolers who are interested in making Capitol Hill a safe school for ALL students!
My passions include my family, my cats, watching my daughters play soccer, gardening, camping, biking, hiking, learning other languages, listening to music, collecting Godzilla toys, reading all sorts of books and the daily newspaper, and eating spicy vegetarian foods. During the pandemic, my family and I adopted two orphaned kitties - - both are Siamese cats with blue eyes! One is named June and the other, Louie. Both of these youngsters bring joy and spunk to our home. One of my favorite places in the city is Como Lake, especially in the autumn when leaves are changing. Watching movies and eating popcorn at the Riverview Theater in Minneapolis is something I love to do on the weekends, but I have put that on hold during the pandemic.
I am SUPER DUPER excited to meet you all and learn together with you IN PERSON this year. Please contact me via email with any questions or ideas you may have.
