A little bit about my background... This year begins my 30th year in St. Paul Public Schools. I loved getting to know Galtier staff and families last year and I'm super excited to dig deeper into Personalized Learning this year.
Prior to coming to Galtier, I served on the Administrative team at Capitol Hill for 2 years, and before that I spent 8 years as principal of Cherokee Heights on the West Side. Before my administrative work, I was a classroom teacher for 18 years in grades 5 and 6 at Highwood Hills Elementary. I received my two Bachelor of Arts degrees in Elementary Education and English Literature from Bethel University, my Masters of Education from the University of Minnesota, and my Administrative License from Hamline University.
I have two children, Connor (26 years old), and Hannah, (age 22). My son married Sarah in 2014 and together they served in an organization called Youth With A Mission for two years. They both have been studying and training in Hawaii in order to travel to other countries in Asia to teach English, organize youth camps, and help with whatever the needs of the community are. They have served people in: Cambodia, Thailand, Bangladesh, India and the Phllipines. Currently they live in Honolulu working and going to college.
Hannah is attending the Minnesota College of Art and Design (MCAD) to continue her studies that she began at Pratt Institute in New York.
Some other interests of mine include: walking my naughty dog, Snoopy, bike riding, photography, reading, baking, discovering new ways to help students learn, Pinteresting ideas for home improvement projects, and hanging out with friends.
I have high goals and expectations for myself and students. I am always available by email (Sharon.Hendrix@spps.org). Please feel free to contact me.
