Welcome to room 2209 where children come once a week to learn, create and explore in a project based, hands on learning environment. The art curriculum is based on individual achievement through the process of learning new skills and making ideas become visual communications. By weaving core classroom subjects into visual representation students learn about their history while creating their own stories through interpretation. All elements of art are taught and discussed through drawing, painting, sculpture, architecture, printmaking, pottery, weaving, and collage.Through these dialogues, children are exposed to the different expressions of the art world. In February 2013 art works are introduced and taught by a cadre of parent volunteers through a program sponsored by the Minneapolis Institute of Art. Contact me if you are interested in this program. Feel free to stop by or volunteer.
