Degrees and Certifications:
My name is Susan Farinacci and I have been teaching at Riverview School since 1994. I graduated from Concordia St. Paul with a BA in Elementary Education, K -12 Physical Education and a coaching License.
In my spare time I enjoy watching my two boys participate in their different sports or going on a camp outing with the Scouts. One is going into 9th grade this fall and the other is going into 10th grade.
During my quiet time I enjoy sitting down and reading a good book, watching a Marvel movie or taking my dog Faith for a walk.
In the summer I enjoy garding, golfing, watersking, biking on the Gateway trail and fishing. When winter comes around I enjoy downhill and cross-country skiing. I also enjoy working out at the gym, indoor rock climbing, and occasionally taking my rollerblades out to the Gateway trail for a long blade ride. I guess you could say I enjoy anything that involves being active and being outside.
In my gym class all students are expected to have tennis shoes everyday. In class all students are expected to run, stretch, do sit-up and push-up everyday. During class we play (work on) a variety or different sports (soccer, volleyball, basketball, floor hockey, badmitton and kickball). In these sports, we work on different skills that are need for the students to play the sport successfully.
Some of the skills the students in Kindergarten thru 2nd grade work on during the school year are: skipping, galloping, throwing, catching, tagging, working with other classmates, jump roping, and kicking.
3rd thru 5th grade continue to work on the above skill but the focuse is moved to skilles needed in the sport/unit we are working on.
