My name is Yvonne Turner and I am a 22 year veteran teacher. I have taught at Washington for the past 12 years.
I always ask people what they want to be when they grow up. If anybody asked me I would have to tell them that "I am still trying to find the right path for me to follow." I gain power and knowledge every time I enroll in another class. Therefore, I am continously in school taking classes to better myself.
I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics with a Minor in Business Administration from North Dakota State University. I only stayed out of school for three years before I yearned to be back in a classroom taking classes. I received a Masters of Arts in Education from Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia. Hampton is one of the oldest Black schools in the United States. While completing my M.A. I also attended Norfolk State University in Norfolk, Virginia where I received my teaching certification. After finishing school at Hampton University and Norfolk State University I attended The University of Saint Thomas in Minneapolis, Minnesota where I obtained my Educational Specialists degree. I have finished my coursework in Reading from Concordia University in Saint Paul, MN.
I have been given the opportunity to teach Reading Strategies. I am here to assist 8th grade students who need additional help to pass the MCA III.
