Degrees and Certifications:

Ms. Kristi Herman Hill

Hello! My name is Kristi Herman Hil and I'm happy to be an ELL teacher at Washington. I'm in my fourth year of teaching at Washington, and also taught at Humboldt and LEAP High Schools before coming to Washington. This year I am teaching the following classes at Washington:

Grade 11 English Language Development

Grade 12 ELL Reading

ELL Chemistry Support

ELL Level 1.5 Social Studies

English 11 (with my awesome co-teacher Meredith Rambow)

I have a Bachelor's degree in English Literature and Spanish from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and a Master's in English as a Second Language from Hamline University. In addition to teaching at Washington, I also teach in the ESL Graduate Education program at Hamline University. I am also very involved in MinneTESOL, Minnesota's ESL teacher association, and currently serve on their board as External Relations Director. My passion for education and social justice issues has recently led me to become more involved in the St Paul Federation of Teachers and have served on their teacher bargaining team and Executive Board.

In my free time, I love to travel, work in my garden, and spend time at home with my husband Lars and my cat Lupe.
