Mme Geimer
Bonjour!
Welcome to the wonderful world of 2nd Grade! I am so excited to be a part of the L’Etoile du Nord French Immersion community. I am a firm believer of the power of language and can’t wait to experience the many adventures that await us this coming school year.
My language journey began in middle school, continued in high school and led to a degree in French from St. Olaf College. During my studies, I was fortunate enough to study abroad in Aix-en-Provence, France and Dakar, Senegal. My time abroad has created a severe passion for learning about the world, different ways of life, and always having my suitcases ready for another adventure!
I began my teaching career in Réunion, a tiny island in the middle of the Indian Ocean. For a year I was an English teacher at two elementary schools on the island. Upon my return to The States, I completed my Elementary teaching license and Masters of Arts in Teaching from Hamline University. At this time I also began to work in St. Paul Public Schools as a Special Ed. Teaching Assistant. After working as a Special Ed. TA at LNFI for half a year, I was fortunate enough to become a 1st Grade teacher the following school year. I called First Grade my second home for five years. During those years, I was blessed with amazing colleagues and incredible supportive families. I then decided to leave the LNFI community to take a Third Grade position at Maxfield Elementary in SPPS. I am so fortunate to have had this experience – it challenged me as an educator, rewarded me with many opportunities to reflect upon my practices, and strengthened my commitment to creating a learning environment that is filled with love, laughter and creativity.
I returned to LNFI in 2014 as a second grade teacher - and let me tell you, I LOVE 2nd grade! There is a feeling of “coming home” that I have felt after making the decision to return to LNFI. L'Etoile du Nord is truly a unique community with much to offer to every child and adult that is apart of it. I feel honored to call it my home-away-from-home!
