Julie Ann Porath, MSW LICSW

  • My name is Julie Ann Porath, and it is my first year here at Crossroads Elementary School, and I am so excited to be here!  I have been a Social Worker in the district since November of 2002.  I worked for 10½ years at Bruce F. Vento Elementary as the building Social Worker, and most recently was the Mental health Professional at RiverEast Therapeutic School, which is one of the Federal IV Special Education Settings within the District.

My husband, Eric, and I have one child, an active 2½ year old little boy who is the joy of my life.  We also have two furry kids of the canine type named Daisy and Boswell.  In my free time, I love spending time with my siblings, nieces and nephews, playing in the backyard, swinging kettlebells at my bootcamp gym, Yoga, and staying active in the state School Social Work Association.

As a Social Worker I am passionate about advocating for families and kids within the educational setting.  I love to integrate sensory strategies and midfulness techniques in my work with kids.

    School Social Work Services
School Social Workers provide a vital link among the school, home and community. Most School Social Workers are involved in providing services to all students. Most provide direct services to students and their families including casework, group work and classroom presentations as well as providing crisis intervention and consultation and making referrals to community agencies.

School Social Workers are part of the assessment process for special education students as well as often providing direct and indirect services to those students. School Social Workers consult with teachers and administrators and frequently participate on teams within the schools
