    Dear Families of Randolph Heights Elementary Students,

    I hope everyone has had a great summer and I am looking forward to seeing everyone soon.  School starts on Tues. Sept. 5th for students in grades 1st through 5th.  Kindergarten students will start on Thurs. Sept. 7th.

    The school day, will start at 9:15 with a free “breakfast to go” for all students.  All walkers and bus students will enter through the front doors on Hamline Ave.  Students being dropped off will enter on Wellesley Ave.  Staff will be present to assist students.  There will be no supervision on the playground or anywhere outside before 9:15, so please do not arrive before then.  Lunch prices are $2.30 for K-5.  School is dismissed at 4:00. 

    In order to make drop-off and pick-up safer for children, we have designated certain areas that do not require children to cross the street or walk through the parking lot. Drop off and pick up is on the school side of Wellesley ONLY.  We do not allow drop-off and pick-up in the staff parking lot.  Discovery Club parents may park on Jefferson and accompany their child into the building.  Other parents should not stop or park on either side of Hamline or Jefferson to drop off or pick up students.

    Teacher assignments will be mailed to families on August 25th.  Students and parents will have the opportunity to "Meet and Greet" their teachers from 5:30-6:30, August 31st at our Open House. This will be an informal meeting, as the teachers will still be working to get their rooms ready.  Randy’s Wagon will be on the basketball court with treats to purchase.  All profits will go to the 5th grade Eagle Bluff field trip. 

    All communication from the office will be sent home in a folder every Friday, unless there is something urgent.  Please sign and return this folder on the next school day.  We hope this will help keep the communication open between home and school.  I will have a color-coded system for information going home.  Information to read and keep is on white paper, forms to sign and return will be on light blue paper, urgent items to be read right away will be on light pink paper and PTA communication will be on light green.  We are hoping this will help you and your child stay organized.  A Family Calendar/Handbook of all the important dates for the year will be sent home in the first few weeks of school.  My newsletter will be sent home monthly as a paper copy, emailed and will be posted on the RHS website.  If you haven’t checked iUpdate, please do to make sure your information and email is correct.  

    The bus route information will be sent from the transportation office after August 24th.  If you have questions about transportation, please contact the office after August 28th.  Please remember to download the My SPPS Bus app for your phone for updates from transportation on your child’s route.

    School information and the supply list are available on our website www.randolph.spps.org. We are all looking forward for the school year to start.  The school is not the same without the students in the halls.  Enjoy your last days of summer and I can’t wait to see you.
