Principal Howard Wilson
Dear Families and Community of Eastern Heights Elementary,
This my fifth year as Principal here at Eastern Heights Elementary School.l
I have been an SPPS leader since 1997, previously serving as principal at Battle Creek Elementary, Four Season A+ Elementary and Longfellow Humanities Magnet School. My passion for education is to ensure that every student and family find a true sense of community through engaging and positive relationships. I know how important parent involvement is. Family engagement is our area of focus for 2020-21. We are working hard to create opportunities for our school culture to reflect the many cultures and perspectives our families bring to our school.
Our staff continue the exciting work of transforming classrooms into “Personalized Learning Spaces” encouraging teachers and support staff to collaborate and learn together. We have created a team of champions for Restorative Practices over the past 4 years. Together, we continue to strive to create a Restorative School at Eastern Heights.
After immigratiing from Australia where I had taught Music, Theater and English for 11 years, I began further studies here in Minnesota, graduating from St. Olaf College with a Bachelor’s degree in Speech and Theater Arts; United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities with a Master’s degree in Religious Studies; and the University of St. Thomas with a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership and Administration degree.
In Peace and Equity,
Dr. Howard Wilson.
