Theresa Jackson, North Campus Principal

  • Principal Terri Jackson

All students have gifts. My belief is all students will go far beyond expectations and capabilities when they feel valued and connected to their learning community. I build and sustain strong relationships with teachers, families and the community to enrich students’ lives.

I am honored and excited to be the new principal of Nokomis Montessori Magnet north campus. I have had the privilege of working with this welcoming, inclusive, collaborative, and nurturing community for the past two years as the assistant principal, and I am looking forward to continuing this journey with our wonderful students, staff and families.

I immigrated from Taiwan in 1974 with my grandmother. We moved right to St. Paul to unite with my mom whom had moved here 6 years prior in pursuit living the American dream. Farnworth Elementary was the first school I attended where I have fond memories of the warm welcome and the creative teaching strategies that were bestowed upon me as a non-English speaker from the wonderful staff. Those experiences, along with having grown up with my grandma-the most incredible master teacher, inspired me to pursue a career in education. My career in education begin in 1986 at Como Elementary as a 3rd grade classroom teacher. In my 32 years in SPPS, I have served as a classroom teacher at Expo Magnet, an Early Childhood Special Education Consult, Gifted Specialist at Mississippi Elementary, Benjamin Mays, and Capitol Hill Magnet, Administrative Intern at Jie Ming Chinese Immersion, Restorative Practice Coach at Riverview Elementary, and Assistant Principal at Nokomis. My passion lies in urban education, serving the richly diverse students and families, and learning alongside them.

When I am not working, I love spending time with family, friends, and Sammy, the 110 pound Labrador Retriever who never retrieves! One might also find me speed walking at malls, not to increase my heart rate, but rather my wardrobe and shoe collection. Lastly, I am a passionate foodie who is constantly in pursuit of the best spring rolls and dumplings!

Please stop by and say hello or introduce yourself as you see me outside at morning arrival. I also welcome your input for your partnership is essential for the success of our kids! I look forward to another rich and exciting school year with our Nokomis Community!
