Parent Academy

  • Saint Paul Public Schools (SPPS) is excited to offer Parent Academy Seminars at your school. This Fall Session 2016-17 is designed to provide parents with additional tools and resources on how to navigate the school system to build trustworthy and lasting partnerships between the school, parents and the community.

    Dinner: 5:30-6:00 PM
    Time: 6:00-7:45 PM

    Parent Academy Seminars are FREE to all SPPS families, but space is limited. A light meal and childcare will be provided to families.

    Title: Social Media (441)
    Description: Digital citizenship can be defined as the norms of appropriate, responsible behavior with regard to technology use. This seminar helps parents to understand what students should know to use technology appropriately and responsibly.

    Date: Tuesday, November 29, 2016
    Title: A Family Guide to Problem Solving School Related Issues (107) Description: The Ombudsperson works with SPPS parents, community members and the school district to clarify and resolve questions, concerns and complaints in a fair and timely manner. This seminar is most relevant for families that 1) strongly disagree with a decision, grades, discipline or policies, 2) are not satisfied with a response from a Teacher, Principal or SPPS employee and/or 3) don’t know whom else to turn to for answers or help.
