Ms. Julie
Hello! ✷ Nyob Zoo! ✷ Salaam alaykum! ✷ Hola!
My name is Julie Ann Porath, and I have been at Crossroads Elementary since 2014. I am excited to be starting my 8th year at Crossroads. I have been a Social Worker in the district since November of 2002.
I have one active little boy, one furry companion named Boswell, and my significant other, Rick. In my free time, I love spending time with my son, siblings, nieces and nephews, friends, biking, tennis, kitchen dance parties, playing outside, boating, and traveling.
As a Social Worker I am passionate about advocating for families and kids within the educational setting. I love to integrate sensory strategies and mindfulness techniques in my work with students.

Ms. Jenny
Hello!
My name is Jenny and I will be the social work intern at Crossroads this year! I am getting my Master’s degree in social work at Saint Mary’s University and will be doing my clinical field placement at Crossroads working with Ms. Julie. I have worked with the St. Paul School District at Discovery Club for about 5 years and have a bachelor’s degree in Child Psychology. I grew up in Richfield, MN and currently live in St. Paul. In my free time I like to spend time with friends, be outside, travel, and explore new places!
My passion is helping children and their families and I am excited to get the opportunity to do so at Crossroads this year. After I graduate, I hope to work with children and families either in a school or therapeutic setting. I look forward to getting to know all of the kiddos and having a great school year!
School Social Work Services
-
School Social Workers provide a vital link among the school, home and community. Most School Social Workers are involved in providing services to all students. Most provide direct services to students and their families including casework, group work and classroom presentations as well as providing crisis intervention and consultation and making referrals to community agencies.
School Social Workers are part of the assessment process for special education students as well as often providing direct and indirect services to those students. School Social Workers consult with teachers and administrators and frequently participate on teams within the schools
