Hello!  Nyob Zoo!  Salaam alaykum!  Hola!

My name is Julie Ann Porath, and I have been at Crossroads Elementary since 2014. I am excited to be starting my 7th year at Crossroads.  I have been a Social Worker in the district since November of 2002.

I have one active little boy and one furry companion named Boswell.  In my free time, I love spending time with my son, siblings, nieces and nephews, friends, biking, tennis, kitchen dance parties, playing outside, boating, and traveling.

As a Social Worker I am passionate about advocating for families and kids within the educational setting.  I love to integrate sensory strategies and mindfulness techniques in my work with students.

Miss Sarah

Hello everyone! My name is Miss Sarah and I am your social work intern this year. I thought I would share a little bit about myself to help us get to know each other better. Right now, I am going to the University of St. Thomas and I am working towards a master’s degree in social work. This will be my last year! I have worked with children for many years but this is my second as a social worker. That is both exciting and a little scary. Some things I enjoy are spending time with friends and family, going to the cabin or the beach, traveling, sports, animals, crafts and so much more! I have two cats named Princess Roberta Lou and Prince Magic Kitty. They are both older and do not play as much anymore. They enjoy snacks, snuggles and sunbathing. I am looking forward to getting to know all of you and I hope to help make this a great school year. See you soon!

School Social Work Services

  • School Social Workers provide a vital link among the school, home and community. Most School Social Workers are involved in providing services to all students. Most provide direct services to students and their families including casework, group work and classroom presentations as well as providing crisis intervention and consultation and making referrals to community agencies.

School Social Workers are part of the assessment process for special education students as well as often providing direct and indirect services to those students. School Social Workers consult with teachers and administrators and frequently participate on teams within the schools
