Horace Mann Library
The Library / Media Center is centrally located in the building for easy access by students and teachers and contains thousands of books and reference materials for students.
Here's just a sample of what is available to Horace Mann students in the library:
Over 25,000 books! (7,231 fiction; 10,046 Non-Fiction; 5,698 Easy; 1,310 Accelerated Reader, 60 Language; 1,310 Series, 700 Reference and over 1,200 checked out at a given time).
You'll also find the library has several computers available to students which are connected to the Internet; a computerized card catalog; a book donation program; monthly library/book related theme activities; circulating periodicals; and a huge reference section - several sets of encyclopedias, dictionaries & atlases. We feature special sections in the library for the Accelerated Reader Program, series books, new book, and HOT picks!
Students view read-along books on TumbleBooks.com using the username SPPSHorace and the password media.
In addition to being a resource center for students, the Library / Media Center is used regularly as a meeting place for PTA, Connections Council, Scouts and other organizations.
Parent volunteers are very active in running the Library.
A highlight of each year is the annual Scholastic Book Fair!
