Degrees and Certifications:
Hello my name is Ann Young. I have been working at Capitol Hill since 1992. I taught 3rd grade at Capitol Hill for 5 years and have been teaching second grade at since 1997. I have experience with the Gifted and Talented Program being both a teacher and a parent who had three of my own children attend Captiol Hill. Prior to teaching at Capitol Hill I taught Kindergarten for 3 years in the St. Paul school district.
I attended Vermillion College located in my home town of Ely, Minnesota and graduated from the College of St. Scholastica with a BA degree in K-6 Elementary in 1987. I received my Masters in Education from Winona State University in 1988 while teaching Kindergarten in Rochester, Minnesota.
I live in St. Paul with my husband. I have three adult sons. I enjoy attending sports events and camping with family and friends. We love to spend time at our cabin up north near Ely with family and friends. Some of my hobbies are yoga, reading mystery novels, writing poetry, fishing, and biking.
If you need to contact me at any time during the day please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org or I can be reached at 651-325-2518 which will go directly to voice mail. The best times to call to get direct contact is 8:00-8:30am and 3:15-3:45pm. I also appreciate you calling the office directly about bussing issues if your child is getting parent pick up instead of taking the bus home so the office can contact me. Please email me and let the school office know if your child was out ill from school or will be missing a day of school for family event or doctor appointments.
I look forward to working with all the wonderful Capitol Hill students and their families this year!
