"Childhood should be a journey, not a race."
Hello and Welcome to 1st Grade! My name is Nancy Boos.
I grew up on the east side of St. Paul, near Lake Phalen. I attended school at Farnsworth, Cleveland, and Johnson. I graduated with my masters from the University of Minnesota, I guess you can say I'm "Home Grown!" Horace Mann has been my teaching home for the last 11 years. First grade is an exciting time and a year of significant growth and change, it's my pleasure and delight to be working with first graders everyday.
I live with my husband, Dan and our son Louie. We are a family of five. Louie is a senior, and I have no idea how that can even be possible. Cherish every day and moment you have with your child, it goes by way too fast! Snowborading is a passion of Louie's. You won't have to ask me twice to show you his latest snowbord video. Our oldest daughter, Abby lives in Dubai and is a kindergarten teacher at the American School of Dubai. I love to talk "shop" with her. Our second daughter, Carly, lives in Los Angeles and works at a non-profit oganization. She has the biggest heart! I miss my daughters every day but am so happy that they found their wings, even if it means our time together is limited. We also have one dog (Jefferson) he was born on the fouth of July and a very old cat, named Salem, who adopted us.
We have a cabin in Hackensack, Minnesota. I've been traveling to northern Minnesota since I was born. Loons are part of the northern landscape and have always fasinated me. This summer I saw an actual loon party - 19 loons, having loads fo fun!
First grade is a big year, and your children will learn a lot, but we'll be having loads of fun too!
I have parent volunteers in my room every day, and you are always welcome. Please feel free to contact me at anytime.
