Ms. Wood
Hello!!
My name is Becky Wood and I have been the medical careers teacher at Humboldt High School for about 8 years. I'm originally from Abbotsford, which is very small town in Wisconsin. The biggest "flex" of that town is that it is Wisconsin's first city...alphabetically-haha! When I graduated high school, I wanted to be an optometrist. I went to the University of Wisconsin - Green Bay to pursue that degree, but I quickly found out that I could not afford optometry school since I was paying for college myself. So, I switched majors and focused on another passion of mine: cells. I graduated with a bachelor's degree in Human Biology with a focus on Cytotechnology. After graduating college, I worked as a cytotechnologist where I screened cells for cancer. My favorite part of my job as a cytotechnologist was teaching the medical students how to find cancer in cells. So, I got my masters degree in science education so that I could teach and then this position came up at Humboldt. This job allows me to join my educational and medical knowledge. I have built the medical pathway that we have here at Humboldt to include the following courses: Healthcare Careers, Medical Terminology, Anatomy & Physiology, and Nursing Assistant. If you're interested in any medical field career, I highly recommend you take a class with me!
