Degrees and Certifications:
Bachelor of Science MN Social Studies Teaching Licensure
This will be my seventh year at American Indian Magnet School and my fourteenth year working with St. Paul Public Schools' families. My father is an enrolled member of the Yankton Reservation(Ihanktonwan Nation) in South Dakota. I graduated from Metropolitan State University with a Bachelors in Science and a Social Studies Teaching Licensure. I have taught 6th through 12th grade throughout my career, but I enjoy middle school the most!
I currently live in River Falls, WI with my husband and my two children. On the weekends we enjoy camping, canoeing, fishing, disc golfing, reading, and watching the Packers, Brewers, and Badgers!
I look forward to a successful year of learning and fun in the classroom. I like to incorporate music, art, and technology in class whenever it can help connect students to historical events. My favorite learning activity is History Day. Students will have the opportunity to create a website, exhibit, documentary, performance, or write a paper about a topic in history of their choice and showcase their research in really creative ways! This year's theme is "Breaking Barriers in History," and I encourage families to help their scholar brainstorm topics that would be really interesting.
