Aaniin, Boozhoo!

My name is Michele Fairbanks and I am the Ojibwe Specialist at American Indian Magnet. I am an enrolled member of the White Earth Band of Ojibwe Indians.  I teach Ojibwe Language and Culture classes and also help plan the cultural events at our school. I enjoy singing songs, playing games, telling stories and creating works of art to make the Ojibwe culture come alive! I use technology with my intermediate grade levels. We use apps on our iPads like Seesaw, Kids Pic Collage, Kids Drawing Desk, Socrative and Bitsboards.

I graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1993 with a B.S. in Elementary Education. I also attended Penn State University for a year and half while working on my Master’s Degree. I love working at the American Indian Magnet School! In my spare time, I enjoy sewing, beading, exercising, reading and spending time with my three children.
