Physical Education

  • Hi!  My name is Ryan Kavanaugh and I am excited to be the Physical Education teacher at Battle Creek Elementary.  I have been teaching in St. Paul Public Schools since 2000 and I am committed to getting your child hooked on physical fitness for the rest of their life!

I graduated from the University of St. Thomas earning a Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education and Elementary Education along with a certified coaching license.  I completed my Master's Degree at the University of Minnesota under the Applied Kinesiology program with an emphasis on Sports Management.  In my spare time, I love participating in a variety of sports, traveling, and most importantly, spending time with my wife and our two boys.

My curriculum is directly linked to the district and national standards for Physical Education which you will find below.  Throughout the school year, children will be exposed to a wide variety of individual and team sports, lifetime physical activities, and cooperative games.  Physical Education is for everyone and the main focus for each lesson is for students to be successful in a safe and positive environment while having fun!

Please feel free to email, call or stop by any time.  Thanks for your support!
