Hello Cherokee Heights students and families! I am so excited to be changing the format of my school webpage. This format change will include a wide variety of pictures, videos, lesson agendas, resources and important physical education information. Cherokee students have been working hard on several new activities in physical education. Now that Cherokee students have individual iPads, each student has been focusing on the concepts of self-assessment and peer-assessment. These skills are vital to student performance and success. With the use of individual video highlighting specific skills, self-assessment and peer-assessment allows for students to see what they are currently doing correctly, and what they need to focus on improving. Cherokee Heights students are incredibly reflective and open to growing as they develop important physical/cognitive skills.
Over the course of the next three months, students will be focusing on volleyball or tennis skills development. In our volleyball unit, student focus on the following game skills: bumping, setting, serving, scoring and positional rotation. In our tennis unit, students focus on the following game skills: ready position, forehand, backhand, forehand/backhand volley, serve and general game rules.
Over the course of the school year, we have worked on basketball, cooperative games, cup stacking, fitness testing, jump rope, creative dance, volleyball, scooters, and team games. On my webpage, I have included various class agendas/documents identifying some of our focuses in physical education. It is my plan to add additional agendas, videos, pictures and resources as they are created. I greatly look forward to working with your family in the future and if there is anything your family needs as it relates to physical education/recreation outside of school, please don't hesitate to contact me directly. As always, you have an open invitation to visit the gym at Cherokee Heights during your students physical education class. We look forward to see you soon!
