Greetings Farnsworth Families!!
We have started our bowling and floor hockey units in class. Both of these units focus on skill development and encouraging sportsmanship. We also have time to enjoy some cooperative games and explore our gym equipment. This includes: rock climbing wall, scooters, parachute and cageball.
We had the opportunity for the Minnesota Wild come to Farnsworth PreK-4 for a Face Off For Fitness Assembly on November 14th. Our students and staff were excited for their visit. They provided each student with player trading cards with nutrition and fitness tips and also a set of floor hockey equipment for our school to use in class. The Minnesota Wild had in attendance: Nordy (their Mascot), Rusty Kath (their in-game host), alumni and Stanley Cup Champion Ryan Carter and also USA Olympic Women's Gold Medalist Hannah Brandt. They had a fun format for the assembly that involved interaction from the classrooms which included: submitting questions (health, fitness or hockey related) and having a floor hockey challenge. One other piece that I hope the students took away from their visit is the importance of getting active 60 minutes a day. This can be broken up throughout the day. I encourage your family to find some fun ways to be active together during this winter season.
Just a reminder that your child will need gym shoes to participate in activities.
Have a great day!
Thanks for allowing me to teach your child!!
