Degrees and Certifications:
I have been teaching in St. Paul Public Schools for 21 years. I have an undergraduate degree in English from the University of Minnesota, and a Master's degree in Elementary Education from University of Wisconsin, River Falls. I am licensed to teach 1st-6th grades. I have taught 3rd grade for 17 years. Before that, I taught 1st and 2nd grades. I love working with 3rd graders because they are curious, fun, and have great imaginations!
My husband and I have two children and our family lives in Eagan. My daughter is an 11th grader and my son is in 9th grade. We enjoy traveling and camping together, going to Minnesota team sporting events, and having family "movie nights". I have one athlete and one artist, so we love going to lacrosse and basketball games, as well as attending performances and art shows that our children are involved in. I love to read and write. During the summer, I try to read as much as I can!
There are so many things I love about working at Chelsea Heights. I think the families here are really supportive of their children and work hard to be involved in many different ways. The students here are kind, helpful and respectful of each other. The staff work well together and try to create an atmosphere that is engaging and fun for all learners. A favorite quote by George Washington Carver guides my professional practice. He stated, "Education is the Key to Unlock the Golden Door to Freedom."
