Degrees and Certifications:
Hello there & welcome! I have been teaching Kindergarten at Daytons Bluff since 2014. I like to say there is never a dull moment in kindergarten! The growth kindergarteners make from the begninning to end of the school year is so exciting to be a part of!
I love to spend time with my family. I am married and have two boys-Jacob & Jonah. They are almost 3 & 1! They keep me busy when I'm not at school. When I'm not playing with my boys, you will probably find me reading, baking, or working out! I am originally from Michigan and travel there often to visit family. Traveling is one of my favorite things to do! I have been to many places in Europe, Carribean islands, Mexico, and around the US. My next places I want to visit? Cuba & Greece!
The kindergarten literacy block includes Writers Workshop, Phonics, & Readers Workshop! We learn how to write, sound out words, identify letters and their sounds, and how to READ!!! One of my favorite things to teach is our reading strategies. Reading strategies help us read tricky words. For example, "lips the fish" says the beginning sound of the word. "Eagle Eye" looks at the beginning sound!
In Kindergarten we learn how to read, write, identify, and match numbers to 30 and beyond. We also learn 2D & 3D shapes, sorting, how to make patterns, and how to countdown from 20. We use an app called Seesaw on our iPads to complete a growing pattern! See below:
