Mrs. Gia Taylor

Hello Eastern Heights Families!

I am Gia Taylor and I started at Eastern Heights Elementary in 2012 as the building Content Coach. Currently, I am in a duel position as a Content Coach and 3rd grade teacher. I love both aspects of my job, but I most say teaching students is the high light of my day. My teaching certifications stem from a BA of Science from Philadelphia College of Textiles and Sciences in Fashion Design. I moved to Minnesota and obtained my teaching certification from the University of St. Thomas and my Master course work in Gifted and Talented Education from the University of St. Thomas as well. I have taught grades 3, 5 and 2 over the course of my teaching career and I have enjoyed all.  I continue to enjoy teaching and impacting the lives of young minds.

Teaching is a joy and a pleasure for me, however my life outside of school keeps my coming back for more. I enjoy working out and going to LA Fitness, reading, sewing and watching my own children's sporting events. I have a passion for art. I love to draw and create and bring those creations to school and get my students involved in those creations as well.

Family is important to me. I grew up on the East Coast in New Jersey where both my mother, father siblings still reside. I moved to Minnesota in 1992 after I graduated from college with my husband. I have two sons; 21 years old and 20 years old, both are attending college. My family also has a family pet named Sheldon who is a 13-year-old wired haired fox terrier.

Eastern Heights is a wonderful school with an awesome teaching staff and student body! I enjoy the challenges and joys of teaching everyday and hope I foster in my students joy and excitement for learning and sharing knowledge. Below is a favorite quote of mine from the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

"Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that."

My door is always open come and see us work.
