Ms. Merrill

Greetings Farnsworth Aerospace community!

I am excited to connect with our Farnsworth students and families for our 2021-2021 school year!  In my role as a grades 6 and 7 English Language Arts (ELA) teacher, I look forward to engaging with our Farnsworth Future Leaders in our Readers and Writers Workshop learning together.

My professional career has been devoted to education.  For the first nine years, I was a grades 9-12 English teacher (2003-12), and then a high school reading specialist for two years.  For six years, I had the fulfilling opportunity to serve our Farnsworth teachers, students, and families with literacy development as a literacy coach.  This last and current year, I look forward to collaborating with my students' families on how we can implement literacy strategies to meet your child's learning needs.

I look forward to learning about each of my students as we begin the year together!  I would like to introduce myself and share some of my personal interests with you.  I am a lifelong tennis player and a big fan of the women’s college tennis team at my alma mater, St. Cloud State University.  I also greatly enjoy vacationing and canoeing near the Boundary Waters. I am happiest when I am in nature doing activities like hiking, gardening, or working in my yard.  My profile picture is of me camping this summer on the Boundary Waters chain of lakes.

I love working at Farnsworth Aerospace, "The Home of Future Leaders," because I believe in the mission and vison of the school.  I believe in and am inspired by how our school community encourages our students to be future leaders in STEAM, or in areas of their interest and abilities.
