All About The Heights Community School
The Heights Community School is a pre-K(four year old) through fifth grade neighborhood school on Saint Paul's East Side. The school's diverse student population experiences the basic subjects in their grade-level classrooms in addition to other subjects such as science, music, physical education, and art. The media center has become the center of learning at the school. In addition to 30 minutes per week of scheduled library time, there is flexible scheduling for students to visit the media center for class research projects, computer work and individual book check-out.
Students are exposed to learning through multiple instructional methods including Reader's and Writer's Workshop. Our students are also offered many educational opportunities outside of the classroom to support individual learning styles.The Heights Community School also places a strong emphasis on family and community involvement. Staff, families, and community members continually work on building strong partnerships to support student achievement and success.Special Features:
- The school has 1 Mac computer lab with 30 iMacs and at least five computers in every classroom with Internet access.
- The Heights Community School offers all-day kindergarten and full-day and half-day four year old programs.
- Extended Day Learning (EDL) offers after-school programs for 2nd - 5th grade.
Students study owl pellets in second grade.
