Fifth Grade

  • Greetings Families!

We are thrilled to have your children in our 5th grade classrooms. Our hope is that your child grows to be a critical thinker and independent learner. We are honored to be part of your child’s village and look forward to the partnerships that we will form with your families.

This year we have been focusing on self using a self regulation model know as the Zones of Regulation. Students are encouraged to use tools such as walking, drinking water, and taking a break to help them regulate their mood if their emotions are getting the way of their learning. We also use Responsive Classroom to help build a community where students feel safe and unafraid to take risks in the classroom.

A strong community also allows students to use their CARES: Cooperation, Assertion, Responsibility, Empathy, and Self-Control which are skills needed for everyday life.

Each student is expected to read at least 30 minutes daily and turn in a reading by Friday every week.

We are looking forward to a great year.

Feel free to contact us by phone or email. We have an open door policy and welcome families in our classroom. School Phone: 651-293-8815. Terry.wylie@spps.org, Vam.yajzt@spps.org, becky.saunders-pearce@spps.org.
