Welcome to Chinese Class 歡迎來到中文課 (huān yǐng lái dào zhōng wén kè)！
Ni Hao, my name is Joanne Cellura or Cellura Lǎo shī. You may still hear students going home calling me by my maiden name, Miss Chiang.
I am starting my 9th year at Highland Park Elementary for the 2016-2017 schoolyear.
A Little About Myself:
My family and I immigrated to Minnesota when I was four years old and I have been living here ever since. As I started Kindergarten, I didn't know any English and had to learn English as an English learner. I continued to speak Chinese at home and learn how to read and write Chinese as I was growing up and into college. My exposure and love for languages seem to stem from my own experience and also having family members that live in Argentina, Taiwan, China, and Hong Kong. I have always been very curious to try to figure out and understand what people around me are saying.
elementary school so I went to school here in the Twin Cities since Kindergarten. I have always wanted to be a teacher since the time my first grade teacher asked me, "what do you want to be when you grow up?" It is my joy to be able to do a job that I love and enjoy very much. Please feel free to contact me with any questions!
