The 2018-19 academic year will be Jesse McCann's 7th school year with Saint Paul Public Schools. He has spent time at all 3 levels- Elementary (Summer School Phy Ed) , Middle School, and High School. This year he will be at Highland Park Sr. High as the Work-Based Learning Coordinator. Mr. McCann is excited to coordinate work experiences for students within the Saint Paul Area. Mr. McCann teaches Career Seminars which allows students to learn about employability skills, acquiring/maintaining work, and career exploration. Mr. McCann plans to coach Basketball in the winter season for both boys and girls Junior High teams at Highland Middle.
Background on McCann:
McCann grew up in west cental Minnesota. A big part of his life revolves around athletics. He participated in high school sports: cross country and basketball. Saint Cloud Tech and Community College was McCann's first stop for post secondary education after graduating high school. Following a stint of studying and playing basketball at Saint Cloud Tech, McCann went on to study education at Saint Cloud State University. McCann also studied Chemical Dependency and played a season of basketball at Ridgewater College in Willmar, MN.
His first teaching license is in Special Education: Emotional/Behavioral Disorders. Mr. McCann also completed his Teacher/Coordinator of Work-Based Learning at the University of Minnesota- Twin Cities.
Mr. McCann's top hobbies include distance running, fitness, basketball, spending time with family and friends, and attending music events.
Prior to coming to Saint Paul School District, Mr. McCann worked the Junveline Detention Center in Hastings, MN.
