Degrees and Certifications:
My name is Nicky Napierala and I am so excited to be teaching at Highland Park Elementary School! I grew up in Appleton, Wisconsin (not too far from Green Bay, WI...go Packers!) where I spent a lot of time swimming at Erb Park, playing soccer and softball. I did my undergraduate work at the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point before getting married and moving to State College, PA, where my husband Mark was going to graduate school. In 1995, I taught 6th grade for two years at Mount Nittany Middle School before my husband got a job working as a chemist at 3M in Minnesota! We were both so happy to be moving back to the midwest and closer to home.
I started working at a year round school called Harambee (Tri-District) Elementary School from 1997 until August, 2013. During that time, I completed my Masters of Education Degree in Curriculum and Instruction at Hamline University in 2000 and had four amazing children, Cole (17), Ethan(14), Gabe (12), and Caroline (9). I had many roles at Harambee, I taught 4th, 5th, and 6th grades from 1997 to 2008 and was a Reading and Math Interventon teacher from 2008-2013.
When I'm not teaching I love to hang out with my family! We enjoy doing ANY activity together. Some of our favorites are going to waterparks, having picnics and playing games out on our boulevard. My interests and passions outside of my family are: cooking, traveling, going to music concerts, playing soccer, softball, inline skating and keeping in touch with friends and family.
This will be my fifth year teaching 5th grade at Highland Park Elementary School. It will be an amazing year!
