Art Class at Mississippi
Meet Ms. Edwards:
Hello from the Art room. My name is Hannah Edwards, this is my 2nd year here at MCA and my 6th year teaching visual art. My philosophy of teaching elementary art can be best summed up by this quote from Pablo Picasso: “Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist when we grow up.” I truthfully believe that each student that enters my room has the capability to create visual art. As adults we lose that sometimes but my passion is in making sure that each of my students believes in their art making capabilities as long as they are with me here at MCA.
This year students will be taking a look at many different aspects of visual arts. We will be exploring the elements of art and also looking at many different time periods in art history. My goal this year is to do a sculpture project with every grade level. We will also start our Mural Residency with 3 different MCA classes this year with Greta McLain of Goodspace Murals. This residency will hopefully build and expand in the coming years until each grade gets a chance to participate.
In my spare time I love to spend time with my family. I have two daughters, a husband, and a chihuahua. In my spare time I love taking hikes with my family and making art with my children. Something fun about me is that I grew up in Wisconsin - GO PACK!
I am so glad to be back at Mississippi for the 2016-2017 school year!
Please never hesitate to reach out to me via email or phone.
