About Mrs. Parenteau
Teaching Kindergarten at Highwood Hills has been a privilege. It is exciting to see the children make so much progress during the school year. I have taught other grades, but enjoy Kindergarten the most. Each day brings new adventures in learning. It is wonderful to see the students make connections and find new possibilities to solve problems. I am married and have an adult son. I enjoy reading, working on crafts and projects at home, singing and playing the piano. I like to meet people and learn about them. Teaching allows me to find new ways to work with students and see them realize their potential.
In our new unit "Adapting to Our World," we will explore the role of weather. Students will learn how people and animals adapt to weather around the world. They will be able to compare their seasonal changes to others in the world. We will be observing these changes. through books, observations and using Ipads.
Every week students receive Homework that review the alphabet, writing, and number practice. A paper book will be included with homework. Children need to follow directions to color, print or match on each page. Keep the books in the Homework backpack provided at the beginning of the year for reading practice. Students will take home a library book each Tuesday. Read the book each week and return on Tuesday to receive a new book. Reading aloud is an excellent way to promote reading.
