Hello! Nyob zoo!

My name is Mai Pang Vang or Xib Fwb Maiv Paj and I am one of the Kindergarten Hmong Dual Language teachers. This is my 8th year teaching at Jackson Elementary in the Hmong Dual Language Program and my 9th year teaching overall.

In my free time, I enjoy playing tennis, walking/jogging, and spending time with my family and friends.

I am excited about the learning that will take place this year! Please see below for resources to make your child's Kindergarten year a success. Feel free to contact me via email if you have any questions or concerns. Have a great day!

*NO SCHOOL on Monday, January 21 and Friday, January 25, 2019.

Area of Study - Unit 4 : Adaptation
This Area of Study focuses on adaptation. Now that children have observed changes in Exploring Change
in My World, they have the foundation to examine how these changes lead to adaptation. Adapting to
Our World will focus on how we adapt to changes in the weather. It examines animals and their
habitats, specifically related to how animals adapt to weather changes. Students will create animal
habitats and define what adaptations are made due to seasonal changes. Students will also have
opportunities to be weather researchers, applying their knowledge by writing, predicting and
performing their original weather forecasts. Students will enhance home-school connections by sharing
where family and friends live around the world and discovering the weather/animals/habitats in that
    region of the world.

  • Nyob Zoo os Parents and Families!

I am Xib Fwb Dib, the student teacher from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities with Xib Fwb Maiv Paj this school year. I am currently in the classroom on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays this Fall. I will be in the classroom full-time, every day in Spring. The first two months were full of community building and learning! I enjoy teaching the students alongside Xib Fwb Maiv Paj. It will be a great year and I am in!

  • Kindergarten students went to the apple orchard on Monday, October 22, 2018. We learned about the life cycle of apple trees. We picked apples and pumpkins, went on a hayride, and tried apple cider. We had a great time!
