About Barack and Michelle Obama Elementary
Our school is a family-friendly place that works closely with parents to ensure the success of all students.
Students proudly prepare to become leaders in our community through core subjects along with fun and engaging activities. Classes include Science, Physical Education, Technology, Art and African Drumming enrichment. Our School-Wide Enrichment model allows all of our scholars to explore and build upon their individual interests and talents through student-selected enrichment clusters. We also have a dynamic MakerSpace that all of our classrooms have the opportunity to use, complete with 3-D printers, robotics, sewing machines and more.
Come visit one of the most beautiful elementary school media centers in the district. Community partnerships, volunteers who provide mentorship and role modeling, and a focus on family engagement make Obama a supportive and lively school.

Our 24-hour attendance line number is 651-744-7283. Scholars are expected to be in school each day. If for some reason your child will be absent, tardy, or leave early, you must notify us.
If there are extenuating circumstances keeping your child from attending school, we encourage you do discuss this with your child's teacher or one of our school counselors. If your child recieves 3 or more unexcused absences throughout the school year, you will get a notification letter from the school. At 5 unexcused absences, Ramsey County will invite you to a group informational meeting (or share a video link) regarding your child's attendance. At 10 or more unexcused absences, Ramsey County considers the attendance issue as educational neglect and an individual parent meeting with a County attorney may be scheduled.
Drop-Offs/Pick-Ups
The back parking lot is used for scholars who are being dropped off and picked up. Please enter the back lot from Grotto Avenue (west side) and exit on to St. Albans Avenue (east side). In the morning the back door will be opened from 7:15-7:40 am. Scholars dropped off after 7:40 am must enter through the front entrance and stop in the office for a tardy slip. When picking up your child you will need to park your car and enter into the cafeteria to sign your scholar out. This is for the scholars’ safety. Scholars who get picked up must be picked up by 2:10pm. After 2:10pm, parents must come in to the front office to pick up.

There are two 15-minute parking spots in the small parking lot on Holly, and additional long-term parking for parents by the baseball field behind the school. Street parking is also available. There is no parking on the north side of Holly. Saint Paul Parking Enforcement does ticket cars parked on Holly, Grotto, and St Albans during the school day.
