Greetings SPMA Families and Community!
My name is Elzbieta Murphy, and I am excited to introduce myself as the new assistant principal of St. Paul Music Academy. I’ve been an educator with St. Paul Public Schools for 22 years. I am a native of Poland, and have lived in the U.S. for the past 24 years.
I am coming from EXPO Elementary, where I spent the last two years as assistant principal. Prior to this, I had served for six years as a supervisor for the SPPS Office of Multilingual Learning, a Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) and ESL teacher for 12 years, and an educational assistant for two years. As an administrator and a teacher, I have worked with educators across the district to provided standards-based instruction, implemented technologies to enhance learning opportunities, and created an environment that is inclusive and one that supports the needs of all students.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts in English as a Second Language from Concordia University, a Master of Education from Hamline University, and Administrative licensure from Mankato State University.
My husband and I have three daughters: 14-year old twins, and a 20-year-old sophomore in college. In my free time, I enjoy reading, biking, singing (choir) and cooking.
I look forward to listening to your ideas and visions for our school, learning from you, and leading with you as we transition into the new school year. I firmly believe that working together, we can ensure that every child’s academic, social, and emotional needs can be met.
