Ms. Robinson
Hello, my name is Amy Robinson and I have been the school counselor at Maxfield Elementary School for the last 14 years. I consider myself a lucky person to have a job where I get to support students to become their best selves! I am passionate about teaching students to think critically about our world and develop skills to advocate for themselves and others as they pursue their dreams. As a licensed school counselor in St. Paul, I work to empower students and families to access their premier Saint Paul Public Schools education through:
- Academic support.
- Social emotional support.
- College & career readiness
This vision is accomplished through providing the following services:
- Classroom lessons
- Group counseling that supports growth in the following example area; emotion management, friendship skills, anxiety reducing, calming techniques, academic support etc.
- Brief, solution-focused individual counseling
- Parent consultations
- Teacher consultations
- Community resource referrals
I earned my BA in education from the University of Northern Iowa and began my journey as a special education teacher and then went on to teach fifth grade at the International School of Dusseldorf, Germany. When I returned from being overseas, I earned my masters in education specializing in school counseling from the University of Wisconsin - River Falls. After graduation, I became a school counselor at Highland Park Junior High in St. Paul for 3 years and have been at Maxfield for the last 14 years.
In my free time, I love to be outdoors doing just about anything with family, friends or myself. I love to go for walks, hikes, snowboard, kayak, snowshoe, or just sit outside when it is nice and read a book.
