• Welcome to first grade!

My name is Kay Kennedy and I am looking forward to a great year as we engage in lots of fun learning.  I have been teaching for over twenty years in St. Paul.  This is my seventh year teaching at Mississippi Creative Arts.   For five years of my teaching career, I was a Reading Recovery Teacher.  I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to become certified in Reading Recovery and dig deeper into the reading process.   I have a Master’s Degree in Gifted and Talented Education and believe gifted and talented strategies are good for all students.

Reading is my passion and something I love to do as a way to relax.  My husband and I enjoy playing board and card games, spending time at our cabin and dining out with our family. We also have a small dog, Hercules, who loves to cuddle.

First Grade is a time of learning, sharing, and making good friends.  This year, we will be making memories together and learning from each other every day.  When parents/guardians, teachers, and students work together, students can reach their goals and their first grade year will be a positive and productive experience.  I look forward to meeting each and every one of you as we embark on this wonderful journey.
