Ms. Amy

Amy began teaching at Nokomis in 2007, and has been teaching E2 (4th and 5th grades) since then. Prior to joining Nokomis, Amy taught fifth grade and third grade. She earned her Masters Degree in Elementary Education and AMS Montessori certification from St. Catherine University. Amy earned her undergraduate degrees in Elementary Education, Zoology, and Conservation from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

When Amy is not at school, she loves to spend time outdoors and with her family. Her favorite activities include hiking, gardening, cooking, and reading. Amy also likes to try her hand at rock climbing and creating art when she gets a chance (though not at the same time).

Amy lives in the Twin Cities with her husband and son. They have enjoyed exploring Minnesota since they moved here in 2007. Amy and her family have particularly enjoyed visiting Duluth and all the local state parks and nature preserves.

Amy loves teaching at Nokomis. Nokomis is a peaceful and caring school, and the kindness of both students and teachers can be observed daily. Montessori principles guide teachers' instruction, so that the focus is on teaching the whole child.
