Ms. Susan Mather

As your school nurse, I am honored to care for your children while they are at school.  I work to stay current on the latest information on child health and development.  I am a Bachelor's prepared Registered Nurse who holds state and national school nurse certification.  My previous experience includes working in a family practice clinic and working in a clinic for homeless individuals and families.  I have been the nurse at Barack and Michelle Obama Elementary since 2009.  I specialize in working with students who have asthma and I have additional certification in asthma education. 

What does a School Nurse do?

Keep students healthy, safe and ready to learn

Manage chronic diseases

Provide hearing and vision screening

Teach health education classes

Administer medications

Manage food allergies

Ensure immunization compliance

Work with the Special Education Team

If you have any questions or concerns about your child's health, please feel free to call me or stop by my office.  I am available at Obama Elementary Monday through Friday from 7:00am-3:00pm.
