Election season is upon us. Due to special laws governing the political activity of public employees, it is important for all SPPS employees to understand what they can and cannot do or say. All SPPS employees must abide by Minnesota Fair Campaigns laws codified by Minnesota Statutes Chapter 211B (2024).

The Permanent School Fund (PSF) is a constitutionally established trust created when Minnesota became a state in 1858. A constitutional amendment to change how these funds are distributed to Minnesota schools is on the ballot this fall. For Saint Paul Public Schools, the increase in funding would be approximately $1 million annually.
