I hope you had a wonderful summer. Even with the later-than-usual Labor Day this year, it still flew by. Now, it is time to welcome back our amazing students, create new routines, and prepare for a year full of learning, connecting, and inspiring our students to think critically, pursue their dreams and change the world.

Election season is upon us. Due to special laws governing the political activity of public employees, it is important for all SPPS employees to understand what they can and cannot do or say. All SPPS employees must abide by Minnesota Fair Campaigns laws codified by Minnesota Statutes Chapter 211B (2024).

The annual 25-year SPPS employee luncheon was held on Tuesday, Sept. 1, at the Como Lakeside Pavilion. 101 staff from across the district reached the 25-year milestone this year, all of whom started working for SPPS in 2001. Thank you to those employees for 25 years of service!

The Permanent School Fund (PSF) is a constitutionally established trust created when Minnesota became a state in 1858. A constitutional amendment to change how these funds are distributed to Minnesota schools is on the ballot this fall. For Saint Paul Public Schools, the increase in funding would be approximately $1 million annually.
