Taking Pride in Our LGBTQ+ Community

(6.4.23) In Saint Paul Public Schools, we believe in creating a safe and welcoming school environment that fosters positive self-esteem, respect for others, and academic success for all students. In a time of increased hostility and cultural politics, these values are more important than ever for our LGBTQ+ students, families and staff.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month

(5.21.23) As we inch closer to the end of the school year, it’s a busy time for everyone with final projects and grading, planning events and celebrations, and tying up as much work as we can before summer break. It can be a hectic and stressful time, which makes it even more important to recognize that May is Mental Health Awareness Month.

A New School for a New Generation

(5.7.23) Over the past several months, a group of district staff and community members have been meeting to envision a new magnet school in SPPS. They have shared their hopes and dreams for a school that will combine high-quality education and culturally responsive programming, with a focus on the languages and cultures of East Africa. They just need someone to build it.

Michael Houston of Harding High School is 2023 Minnesota Teacher of the Year

(5.7.23 | All Staff) Houston is the 59th recipient of the prestigious award, and the fifth from the Saint Paul School District, to be named Minnesota Teacher of the Year. Houston is a two-time finalist for the award, also having been named a finalist in 2017.

Cybersecurity in Saint Paul Public Schools

(4.16.23 | All Staff) To counter cybersecurity threats, SPPS has several protective resources in place and suggests taking some additional measures to ensure our systems, devices and users are as protected as possible.

New Math Curriculum Implementation

(4.16.23 | School Staff) The Board adopted a new math curriculum starting in 2023-24 which will present the opportunity for the district to move to an integrated math model. High school math teachers will have ample professional development opportunities between April-September.
