  • High School

As Artificial Intelligence (AI) continues to evolve, Saint Paul Public Schools views these tools as supplements to enhance the human-centered approach to education that is fundamental to our mission. With that philosophy in mind, we are pleased to announce that Google Gemini for Teens will be available to all SPPS students in grades 9-12, starting February 14. Students can access Gemini for Teens securely through their existing school workspace accounts at https://gemini.google.com. View this short slide deck to learn how students can log into Gemini.

Why Gemini for Teens?

While there are other AI tools available, Gemini for Teens offers a safe and secure environment for our students due to several key features:

  • Built-in Safeguards: Gemini identifies and blocks inappropriate content, ensuring student exposure to safe and relevant information.
  • Data Protection: Protects student privacy with industry-leading security measures.
  • Ethical AI Practices: Student data and submissions are never used to train AI models or reviewed by anyone outside of Google.

SPPS Resources for Educators and Students:

Maximizing the Benefits of Gemini for Teens:

We encourage you to:

  • Explore the Tool: Visit https://gemini.google.com and sign in using your @stpaul.k12.mn.us Google account to discover Gemini's capabilities firsthand.
  • Provide Clear Guidelines: Establish clear communication for student use of Gemini, emphasizing responsible and appropriate usage. Consider using "Implementing AI: A Practical Guide for the Classroom," published by the Washington Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction as a reference.

By understanding and effectively using AI tools like Gemini for Teens, we can empower our students to become responsible digital citizens and create a more enriching learning experience for all.
