Dear SPPS Staff,

As you likely heard in the news, the U.S. Department of Education is releasing the remaining Title funds that had been withheld since July 1. For SPPS, this equates to approximately $8.6 million (an increased estimate from our initial $7.2 million calculation). This means the Title II, III and IV funds that were part of our approved FY26 budget will be available and we will not need to use any of our contingency plans.

I want to thank the many education advocacy groups and state attorneys general who took action to ensure that SPPS and schools across the country receive the funds that our students and staff were promised. While I am grateful this potential disruption was averted, it is likely this will not be the last funding challenge we face. I am confident in our district leadership team and know that we will all come together to overcome the next one.
