Dear Saint Paul Public Schools Staff,

I am thrilled to be welcoming you to the new school year! The first day of school is always an exciting milestone. I know you will be busy with opening week trainings and getting your classrooms, lunchrooms, buses and offices ready to welcome first-12th grade students on Sept. 2, and Pre-K and kindergarten on Sept. 4. I will be attending as many staff welcome events as I can, and am so honored to be starting this school year right alongside you.

At Saint Paul Public Schools, our mission is to inspire students to think critically, pursue their dreams and change the world. Whether it’s early education, elementary, middle, high school or adult education, my goal is that all of our students are immersed in a school community that fosters their passion for learning and helps students know they belong.

Our students’ sense of belonging and readiness to learn starts with all of us. No matter your role in the district, I want you to know that YOU BELONG, too. I am grateful for the unique background, professional training and experience that you bring to SPPS, and how your belief in our young people and one another, can and does change lives. Each of YOU has the power to make a difference, and I am here to equip you with the tools you need to ensure your students are safe, supported, and ready to learn.
