COVID-19 Student and Family Guidelines
SPPS will require masks for all people in a school setting (ages 2+), including all teachers, staff, students and visitors, regardless of vaccination status. Families should familiarize themselves with the SPPS COVID-19 Student and Family Guidelines, which are updated regularly and cover prevention strategies, health screening and monitoring, and the SPPS COVID-19 Reporting System.
Dear Families: I am very happy to be returning as your principal for the 5th year! Thank you for staying the course with us throughout last year despite the pandemic and other situations that made the year atypical. Together, we were able to make it through! As we start School Year 2021/22 In-person Learning, I am confident that we will continue to support your child’s learning while at the same time, providing you with the tools that you need in order to make learning rewarding at home too. I hope that this transition will be much smoother than the one in spring, since we have been able to learn from past experience and improve on a number of things. It is important that you connect with us, primarily through your child’s teacher for assistance if you are still having trouble accessing information, difficulty with the assignments or just internet problems and connectivity. The district has been very generous in making sure that additional resources are provided to support student learning as we thrive to help close any gaps that were widened as a result of the pandemic. So please contact your child’s teacher and take advantage of the resource and opportunities that are available to you! As we navigate this new learning opportunities, I know that Opening Day this year is going to look and feel very different for you, especially because families are still worried about the resurgence of the Delta variance. Whatever be the case, we are committed to making your experience a safe and valuable one. We are also anticipating a very exciting and enjoyable experience that is usually associated with the first day of school when our students join us in September. Our team of dedicated staff is willing and ready to help make this school years’ experience as enjoyable and as rewarding as previous years’. Please know that Highwood Hills staff are with you, for you and here, we are family!
