Dear SPPS Secondary Families:
The Minnesota Safe Learning Plan requires that school districts use at least two school days for planning and building preparation when changing learning models. With the addition of in-person support for secondary students currently being planned, the following non-school days for secondary students have been added to the district calendar:
January 29-February 3:There will be no instruction for secondary students. Friday, January 29, was a previously scheduled non-school day.
February 4: New first day of second semester. Distance learning schedules may also change at this time.
In-person support will begin after the COVID-19 case rate for Ramsey County remains under 30 for two consecutive weeks. Families will be notified of the start date as soon as that threshold is met.
When in-person support begins, all 6-12 grade students will continue in distance learning as their primary learning model. If you do not want your student to be considered for in-person support, please fill out this form to opt out by Friday, January 29.

The English as a Second Language Department offers English language instruction through listening, speaking, reading, and writing. English language instruction begins with pre-literacy classes and progresses through a university level writing course.
The Mathematics Department offers classes from Math Foundations and Pre-Algebra to Intermediate Algebra, Geometry, and Algebra2 so our students can complete at LEAP all the required math classes for graduation. Our classes prepare students for continuing studies of math in college. We believe that all students can be successful in math and we will help them find the right class and best way to learn.
