The Autism Program has been part of the Benjamin E. Mays school community for more than 10 years. Our staff has a broad range of experience working with children who have Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD).
The international Baccalaureate develops inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.
Parents are also welcome to become involved in many school activities, such as, visiting your child’s classroom, participating in field trips, tutoring students, etc. Volunteerism is encouraged.
At Mays, we believe all human beings have gifts and everyone is needed for what they bring. Restorative Practices (RP) is at the heart of our positive school culture. Students, parents, and staff have the opportunity to participate in RP Circles on a regular basis.
As a person born and raised in the Rondo area of Saint Paul, Dr. Turner brings a wealth of experience in helping all students feel represented and accepted for who they are. He has served as an educator for 27 years and worked in SPPS for the past 6 years as a teacher, leader, administrator, and most recently, as assistant principal for American Indian Magnet School.
